Some three years after the beginning of the uprising against Syrian President Bashar alAssad and the regime’s bloody crackdown, journalist Muhammad Ali reported from Syria about a covert U.S. program to help moderate rebels fighting against both Assad and Islamist radicals aligned with Al Qaeda.
