Travels in India, London & the UK

✓ On our annual "Foodie Pilgrimage" to the London VegFest festival we always seek out the "Chaatit" street food stall; because we always love the "Desi" treats they serve up and these guys never fail on the authenticity of the taste factor.

Another reason that we look forward to seeing them is that every time we see them they sometimes have a new item on their menu, inspired by Mother India,

This year they had a special item on the menu namely; Curried "Jackfruit Tikka" which they were serving in wraps with the following fillings:
JACKFRUIT TIKKA WRAP:
* Flatbread Roti
* Date & Tamarind Chutney (Sweet & Sour Chutney)
* Spicy Chilli / Coriander (Hot Chutney)
* Tikka Jackfruit Curry
* Lettuce
* Grated Carrot
* Pickled Turnips (coloured Pink with Beetroot)
* Cucumber
* Vegan Yoghurt Sauce
* Date & Tamarind Chutney.
* Special Homemade Chaat Masala.

Chana Masala Wraps:

* Freshly fried crumbled Papri (Wheatflour Biscuits)
* Sev (Crunchy Gramflour Noodles)
* Homemade Chaat Masala.

They also had their regular menu items such as Samosa Chaat and Masala chips.

The Recipe Ingredients for the Samosa Chaat is:
* Freshly Fried Vegetable Punjabi Samosa.
* Chickpea Curry.
* Mint Yoghurt Sauce.
* Date & Tamarind Chutney.
* Chilli / Garlic Chutney.
* Hot Chilli Coriander Chutney.

MIX VEG CURRY RICE BOX:

* Grated Carrot
* Indian Red Onion

The Masala Chips that we had were delicious as usual. We also had a portion of their homemade fresh fried Punjabi Samosas (which they keep warm in a Food Warmer; going the extra mile like this is what makes these guys popular).

(They make their own sauces, chutneys and chaat masala powder; which are all well kept secret recipes).

A special thank you to Meera, Prasant and all of the Chaatit team who very much welcomed us and graciously allowed us a privileged glimpse into their kitchen to do the videoing.

They trade at different locations, so if you're wanting to catch up with them, then you can send them a message via their social media. Here's links to Chaatit's various social media pages:

We think the following words about chaatit on their website perfectly articulate what they are about:
"Indian Finger Licking Vegetarian Street Food"

"Chaatits" literally meaning 'lick it' or in a broader context, 'finger licking food' is specially designed fast food for Mumbaikars traveling, working or just chilling out. The essence here is of taste which has now spread across the country. And now it has arrived in the UK, 'straight from the streets of Mumbai', to challenge your taste buds.

It is often assumed that if you are a vegetarian than you have limited options to eat. India is a country where majority of the population is vegetarian. The variety of options is infinite and still growing. The masala used in various dishes is different in every way and therefore no one dish is the same. Indians often adopt dishes from different cultures and give it their own identity by adding certain masala by tempering or infusion. This provides quick and tasty meal for all to consume.

Like you, we too are passionate about food. So much so that we love making it for you and serving it to your masalaness. We aim to provide you with authentic Indian street food that you are missing out on. Our food has a delightful surprise which infrequently bewilders you in thinking, 'what makes it so tasty' or just simply 'hmm'.

There are no etiquettes in eating street food. So just be yourself and try our fabulous culinary street food which immediately takes you to the streets of India".
