This DIY Turning Our Garage Into An Apartment Time Lapse shows the entire process of building an apartment inside a garage from start to finish. This project took me about 5 months to complete. It was definitely a lot of work but I learned a lot of DIY and home renovation and building skills during this whole process.

I started out this project by dividing the garage into 2 separate rooms. I kept one room as my workshop and the other room for the apartment. Framing the main entrance was the next thing I did followed by building up the floor since the existing cement floor that was there already was not leveled and I needed to be able to put in plumbing underneath. After the subfloor was complete, we started framing the whole place. Once framing was finished, we did electrical, HVAC, plumbing, gas and insulation. We hired out drywall install and mudding and they were able to get it done quickly. We painted the whole place in 2 days then did some more electrical work and HVAC. Finally, we installed flooring, trims and were able to have the apartment all finished! Let me know what you think of the final result!
