Electronic dance music became popular in Frankfurt in the 1980s thanks to US GIs. In addition, there is the hardness of electronic body music as an alternative to the banking city. New impulses are spilling over to Germany from Detroit and Chicago. A new celebration culture is emerging, also influenced by the gay and lesbian scene. The Front in Hamburg or the Dorian Gray at Frankfurt Airport are clubs from the very beginning that make the new sound tangible.
