One of the most common issues I've seen people have with their 2JZ cars without a doubt has to be the harmonic balancer. Symptoms I usually see related to it are noises in the engine bay, the battery light coming on, losing power steering, and losing a drive belt. If you have a higher mileage 2JZ car it is a good idea to replace the harmonic balancer with your next timing belt service to make sure you don't run into any of these issues.
