When I initially arrived in Ibiza, finding a place was a breeze. However, now there's a surge in demand from individuals seeking to reside in Ibiza yearround. In recent years, I've consistently observed the formidable challenge of securing highquality, affordable rental housing for Ibiza residents in today's society. contracts hold little weight, landlords demand a year's rent upfront, and the rising cost of living prompts people to even advertise the back of their cars and friends sofas, Even the GUARDIA Civil agents in Ibiza are compelled to sleep in their cars because of skyrocketing rent prices, revealing the island's severe housing crisis. Last summer, nine officers went on sick leave when stationed at Ibiza airport because a shortage of accommodation left them with no choice but to spend nights in their vehicles. It has become increasingly challenging for employers to find staff to work in their beach bars, clubs, and restaurants, as seasonal living is becoming more difficult due to the rise in rental prices.

In this video, I chat with a handful of local owners and managers of various establishments. Ideally, I would have liked to speak with more people, but creating this video solo can sometimes make it challenging to pin down individuals to talk on camera, especially during the offseason in Ibiza, particularly in February.
