I went to Scotland's Highland Games. Many Highland Games are held throughout Scotland ever year and a lot of these events take place in the Scottish Highlands. Even though I am from Scotland, I have never been to a Scottish Highland Games. In the south of Scotland where I’m from, we don’t tend to have these events.

In this Scotland travel video, I make my way through Glen Coe and Fort William to reach the town of Morar to attend the Mallaig and Morar Highland Games 2023, an event held every year in August.

This Highland games kicked off with a Scottish ceilidh, a traditional Scottish event that incudes a lot of Scottish dancing!

The Mallaig and Morar Highland Games event has four categories heavy, athletics, dancing and bagpiping. Heavy is what most people associate with the Highland Games and it was great to see the caber toss and I even manage to have a go myself!

If you’re planning to visit Scotland, I highly recommend adding a Highland games event to your Scotland travel itinerary. It’s a great way to experience Scotlands’ history, culture and heritage!
