Thousands of YouTube creators who are monetized were hit by a YouTube "Invalid Traffic" issue. Ads were shown less which resulted in a drop in AdSense earnings from eligible monetized videos.

It came as a surprise to me as well as many others. On one side, it's reassuring to see YouTube making an effort to enhance the platform for everyone involved creators, viewers, and advertisers. On the other hand, creators were somewhat left in the dark with no explanation specific to their channel, which impacted their earnings. YouTube support did reassure me that things will go back to normal but without any timeframe. Not surprisingly, many creators rely on ad revenue as their primary source of income.

Despite this ordeal, what we can all take away from this as creators is to not rely solely on a single source, whether that would be a single platform or revenue stream.

My Intention isn’t to deter you from starting or continuing your YouTube channel, I think it’s the best platform for creators in terms of monetization opportunities. Rather, I want to inform you on what you as a creator can do to not be heavily reliant on a single source, no matter the platform. Keep creating and start that email list ✌
