Failure is part of painting in watercolour because we can't paint over mistakes. I often do studies before a painting to try and iron out potential problems. Sometimes I have to do several studies before I get it right. It takes time but it is time well spent. In this video, I talk about how three studies of a black cockatoo helped me to complete a successful painting.
