"A complete guide on how to use your Intoxalock ignition interlock device (IID).

In this video you will learn:

How to start your vehicle 0:06

In order to start your vehicle you will first need to submit a breath sample to process your breath alcohol content (BrAC). Your state law will determine what BrAC level you must remain under for a passing test and how many attempts you have for providing a passing sample within a certain amount of time. We recommend not eating or drinking anything 15 minutes before providing your breath sample.

What to expect at your installation appointment 0:52

Your Intoxalock installation will usually take an hour, but the exact time will vary on the make, model, and year of your vehicle. Our certified Intoxalock installers are highly trained to install your device in a timely and safe manner. Some states now allow mobile installation, where our certified installers will come to either your house or work to install the device. If you're interested in mobile installation, call us at (833) 300749.

How to manage your Intoxalock account (MyAccount) 1:38

Intoxalock MyAccount allows you to access your Intoxalock account and perform various actions without ever picking up your phone. You will have the ability to track your calibration status, view your payments, make a payment, and report vehicle maintenance all within your Intoxalock MyAccount profile.

The calibration process 2:20

A calibration is a statemandated maintenance appointment to ensure your ignition interlock device is correctly measuring alcohol levels and to download device data updates. Calibrations are required every 3090 days, with your state determining the specific interval these appointments are required. Thanks to our cuttingedge remote calibration system, your calibration appointment should only take 515 minutes.

What to do in case of a lockout 3:21

A lockout is a statemandated safety function that does not allow you to start your vehicle if you have failed too many breath sample tests, missed a calibration appointment, or if you have attempted to bypass or tamper your interlock device. If you experience a lockout with your Intoxalock device, you will need to contact Intoxalock customer service to get your device out of it.

What are random retests 4:19

Random retests are another statemandated safety function that required you to perform periodical breath sample tests after turning on your car. This safety feature ensures that someone is not drinking and driving after passing their initial startup test. Most states allow 56 minutes for you to submit your random retest, giving you ample time to pull over to the side of the road and submit your breath sample.

How to report vehicle maintenance 5:34

If you need to have work performed on your vehicle while your Intoxalock device is installed (oil change, battery replacement, etc.), make sure to report your vehicle maintenance to Intoxalock prior to your appointment. You can report vehicle maintenance through your MyAccount profile. It is important to document this with Intoxalock in case anything happens with your Intoxalock device during your vehicle appointment.

Approaching the end of your lease 6:22

When your lease is close to expiring, you will need to check with your monitoring authority (DMV, Court, Probation Officer, etc.) to verify that you are eligible to remove your interlock device. If you are eligible to remove, you will need to call Intoxalock to schedule a deinstallation appointment with your local service center in order to remove your Intoxalock device from your vehicle. If you are not eligible to remove, you will need to call Intoxalock in order to extend your lease. Before removing your Intoxalock device, consider transferring your device to voluntary status. Intoxalock offers special pricing to customers who choose to keep their ignition interlock devices installed in their vehicle.
