ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO:
Canine pancreatitis is serious and needs careful attention, and it can be of an acute or chronic condition with mild to acute pain.

Here are the symptoms of Acute dog pancreatitis:
• It can happen without warning.
• It can happen when too much fatty table scraps have been fed, especially over the holidays such as at Christmas time.
• It can happen when a dog gets into the garbage.
• It can happen when a dog boards at the kennels or is stressed from being left alone for long periods of time without being trained to do so.

And here are the symptoms of chronic dog pancreatitis:
• The pancreatitis symptoms appear over time slowly.
• The symptoms are less obvious, may and not even be noticed, so look out for restlessness, an arched back, back pain, abdominal pain, labored breath, lethargy, loss of appetite and possible diarrhea and vomiting.

If you think your dog has pancreatitis, get your vet to run some tests to get a correct diagnosis.

Here's How to Treat Pancreatitis in Dogs:

The 7 steps to get your dog healthy and prevent dog pancreatitis from returning.
1. The first thing to do is to fast your dog for at least 24 hours to give the pancreas a rest and stop the inflammation. Just give water in small amounts to keep your dog hydrated but not enough to cause vomiting.
2. Once your dog's pancreas has rested from all activity and you notice the symptoms subsiding, introduce a little cooked bland food such as white fish meat, boiled egg and cooked green vegetables that have been well crushed before serving or a little bone broth minus any oil or fats that will be on the surface, simply skim them off first.
3. If things go ok with this first food introduction, stay with the same minimal food offerings for several days while the pancreas settles and heals.
4. For longer term prevention, be mindful to limit fatty foods.
5. Feed a high quality probiotic to help keep the gut flora levels well colonized in healthy bacteria and able to digest food well.
6. Feed digestive enzymes because the pancreas will have been compromised and therefore less able to produce what's needed and I'll leave a link in the description below to an excellent choice for this condition.
7. And most important of all, feed your dog a better diet. Ideally it should be fresh whole foods such as contained in a raw food diet. If for some reason this is not possible, at minimum, you'll want to feed a healthier kibble diet.

That's why I created the Healthier Kibble Diet to help kibble feeding dog owners reclaim their dogs health from dog pancreas problems, allergies, diarrhea issues, yeast infections, ear infections, skin and coat problems, hot spots, arthritis and poor digestion or sensitive tummies.

And the pancreas will now get relief, be less stressed and perform better. Healthier Kibble Diet link in the description above.
