How to Tell If the Rock You Found Is a Meteorite

In this video, we discuss the characteristics of meteorites and how to distinguish them from common Earth rocks. Meteorites have a unique fusion crust, density, and regmaglypts and are magnetic and nonstreaking. However, many Earthly rocks can mimic these traits, and meteorites are almost never round and do not have bubbles or holes. If you believe you've found a meteorite, it may be difficult to get a professional opinion. Consider sending a sample for testing to a reputable lab or just enjoy the fun of claiming you've found a meteorite.
