If you come across a snake on the trail, first, try to remain calm. Most snakes won't bother you if you don't bother them. Step back slowly and give it space. If you need to pass, make sure to give the snake plenty of room and walk around it. Avoid sudden movements or startling the snake, and if you're unsure of the type of snake, it's best to err on the side of caution and keep your distance. Finally, if you're bitten, try to remember the snake's appearance to help medical professionals treat you effectively.
