Here's my tutorial for how to kill the blaze in a Minecraft speedrun! I highly recommend that you practice this section before attempting a full speedrun. The chances of dying and losing a run in this section is very high. Feel free to come back to this video whenever you need to practice! Below I have included additional information so that I can help you as much as possible~!

Additional Information:

======== Diamond Sword ==========
If you happen to get 3 diamonds in a speedrun, I would recommend making a diamond pickaxe rather than a diamond sword. This is because it will save you more time in the long run when you are digging for the stronghold. If you are speedrunning in 1.16, it will also help you mine the nether gold faster! This is especially true if you plan to one cycle the dragon since you won't really need a diamond sword anyway ;p

======== Blaze Spawning Hitbox ========
When the blaze are about to spawn, make sure to back up away from the spawning radius! The blaze's body hitbox does alot of damage and if multiple spawn on top of you at once, you might just straight up die. Seriously, I've died way too many times this way, learn from my mistakes. lol

Tip: the small blaze inside the spawner will spin faster when it's gonna spawn

======== Blaze Spawn Charge Time ========
I know I mentioned this in the video but it's so important that I wanted to explain in more detail here. When the blaze first spawn in, they won't shoot for about 34 seconds. It's crucial that during this time you try and kill or at least deal damage to one of the blaze. If you can do this consistently, then even if 4 spawn at once, you'll only really have to deal with 3 of them which makes the fight way easier.

======== Blocking the Fire Charges =========
Sometimes if you see that the blaze are ready to attack, rather than running behind an old pillar, it's better to just build one fast right in front of you. Also if you are using a shield make sure that the shield is directly facing the fire charges. The shield has a pretty forgiving blocking range, but if the shield isn't really facing the direction of the fire charge, you might still get hit.

======== Open Spawner Warning =========
If you have the choice, always try to tackle a closed spawner. But sometimes in fortresses there isn't a closed spawner. If this happens in a speedrun you better be ready! Open spawners are more dangerous because the blaze can float above you making them hard to hit. And if you hit them from below, the knockback will send them flying into the air! (See: 6:27) So make sure that you consider knockback angle when hitting them.

Also with open spawners, blaze from other sections of the fortress that spawn naturally might start trying to snipe you from another angle. If this happens try your best to build a wall that blocks their line of sight to you!

======== Set Spawn Before Nether ========
During a real speedrun for extra safety, consider placing a bed on the overworld side of your portal and setting your spawn. Because if you die, depending on the situation, you might be able to still salvage the run.

======== Practice Makes Perfect ========
Sometimes it can be really frustrating dealing with the blaze. And sometimes it just feels like there is nothing you can do because of spawn RNG. But don't be discouraged! Like anything, speedrunning requires practice! And the more you initially struggle with the fight, the more satisfying it will be when you finally get that successful speedrun!
