This was a new icemaker installed on a sub zero 532 unit from 1988. The old whirlpool style icemaker was beginning to peel. We installed a fresh replacement with a new solenoid valve.

This will work on older style ice makers. Newer units have a computer board that will often control power to the solenoid. So, my words of caution are really intended for older style ice makers with no cpu board present.

Other than that, this is how you test an older style sub zero ice maker ( or any other brand utilizing a whirlpool style ice maker)
