How to repair faucet leaking at base quickly and without hassle? Repairing a leaking faucet is literally a 5 minute, job and even if there are very few things more irritating than a leaky faucet or dripping tap, most of us postpone it as long as possible. Unfortunately, when water spews from the handle it can do some irreversible damage to the wall or paneling behind or cupboard underneath the sink. It doesn’t mean you have to call the plumbers in right away; with a couple of quid and a little patience you will repair it in no time yourself. The only thing you need is a set of new rubber Oring seals and an adjustable wrench. You don't even have to shut off water supply.

At the first sight, it might be hard to work out how to disassemble the faucet, so locate the setscrew. It may be on the base of the handle, under the lever or hidden behind a cap that you have to pry off with a flathead screwdriver. If you don't see a setscrew and the handle has a large tapered base, like in the model I have, try unscrewing the base. It can be pretty stiff and faucets scratch easily so remember to use a piece of cloth for protection.

Once you disassemble the faucet, the rest is a piece of cake, just change the Orings, put the handle back in place and tighten the ring. The job you might have put off for ages (like myself) is done.
