How To Properly Use Your Turn Signals: How Far Ahead Should You Signal, When To Use Them, And Why

Turn signals are a simple and effective way to communicate with other drivers around you about what your vehicle is going to do next. They have the potential to prevent accidents and therefore save lives, so why doesn't everyone use them? A study done by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) found that 48% of drivers didn't use their signals when changing lanes, and 25% didn't even use them when turning! Those are scary statistics, and lead to about 2 million accidents a year that are directly related to nonuse of signals. If you took the time to watch this video, hopefully you're someone that does use their turn signals when required, and you're just brushing up on the proper procedures. But I also hope there are some that watch this that will be encouraged to use their signals more because of this video. Using them is a simple thing to do, so please make it a habit.
