Here at https://suncitylawncare.com, we prepare our soils for SOD a particular way. Mostly because of the sandy soil systems we have in El Paso, Texas. Incorporating organic material into the existing sandy soil we have helps with water and nutrient retention purposes. This simple step will take your lawn to the next level as there will be sufficient organic material to help promote growth.

Removal of an existing lawn is our initial step in this particular video and the use of either a shovel, rototiller, skid steer or sod cutter are various options to complete the task for SOD preparations. As a skid steer and SOD cutter were not at my disposal this day...I resorted to good ol' fashion shoveling for the removal of the undesired grass type.

I would like to add that the use of a SOD cutter would have drastically decreased my time on site and my soreness today lol.
