This video explains how to replace your battery in a Mercedes Benz Key Fob with built in transponder. The procedure requires two (2) new CR2025 3V button cell batteries (Yes Mercedes requires two batteries, because they just have to one up the competition ;) ). By using two batteries it means that replacement is not required as often. The procedure is VERY straightforward and simple to understand, so don't be intimidated by it, even if you don't work on cars. Once you have your batteries purchased, follow these simple steps: Step 1: Remove your emergency key (silver metal potion on top) by pressing the tab on top of the key. Step 2: Use the short blunt end of the emergency key to press in the tab found in the opening where the emergency key was removed. Step 3: Using your fingernails, remove the top portion of the key by sliding it upwards. Step 4: locate the batteries on the portion of the key you just pulled out and slide them out through the slotted opening on the positive (+) side. Step 4: slide in your two new batteries making sure to keep the positive and negative sides properly positioned (look for the imprinting on the battery holder portion of the key that marks the positive side up, in case you get confused). Step 5: Slide the battery holder back into the key housing and place back in your emergency key. Congratulations, you should now have a working key FOB or Keyless Entry for your Mercedes Benz Vehicle!! The way you initially tell if your batteries need replacing is if your Keyless/Key FOB stops locking/unlocking your door locks (even if your locking system is broken (ie Sclass pneumatic locks are disabled from an air leak or pump failure) you can still see if the FOB is functioning by checking to see if it arms your alarm or causes your lights to flash when the lock or unlock button is pressed.
