This video depicts the process of making mortises on each work piece that are joined by a floating tenon. The jig was created by Stumpy Nubbs (James Hamilton) and is easy to build and works great!

You do not need a $1000 power tool to make this great joint. Loose tenon joinery is easy with a router, upcut bit, a bushing and a simple jig.

It is important to restrict the width of the mortise (to just larger than the floating tenon for ease of joining). Also important to have key the layout lines facing the same side to insure best fit up.
