Hey everybody, and welcome to another episode of Sunday Cooking with Mom and Me. Can you tell?) Come on and take a look, and as always, make sure to hit those like and subscribe buttons if you haven't already. Enjoy and be blessed!!!

Apple Turnovers

4 Granny Smith Apples
1 tablespoon flour (allpurpose)
1/2 cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 heaping teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
2 dashes of allspice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon lemon extract
3 tablespoons butter
2 pie crust
Melted butter or beaten egg, for basting

Wash, peel, and cut apples into bit sizes. Place apples in a pot and turn heat on. Add white sugar and light brown sugar, constantly stirring to coat apples with sugar. Stir in the flour. Add the butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla extract and lemon extract. Give the ingredients a stir to fully incorporate ingredients. Place the lid on the pot for the first minute or two. Remove lid and allow to cook on medium heat for at least seven minutes, until apples are tender. Remove apples from heat and allow to completely cool for at least 30 minutes. Place the pot in a large bowl covered at the bottom with ice to speed up the cooling process, necessary.

Roll the pie crust out on a floured flat surface. Use a small pot lid to cut out circles or a cookie cutter to cut crust into 3 triangles. Place filling in middle of triangle or off centered. Fold crust over and crimp the edges, to prevent spills. Baste with melted butter or egg wash.

Bake in preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, until golden brown. Place apple turnovers on a cooling rack. After 15 minutes or more, glaze or ice the top.
Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes.

Icing

1 tablespoon evaporated milk
4 tablespoons soften butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar

Add the milk, butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar to a bowl and mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
