How to Make a GoDaddy WordPress Website 2023

Having a website has become one of the most integral parts of running a successful business, brand, or personal effort that requires an online store or portfolio. Whenever someone brings up the notion of making a website, most tend to feel confused on where to begin and how to fully implement everything they want onto their site.

Still, no matter how much of a beginner someone is with making a website, just about everyone has heard of GoDaddy before. GoDaddy is one of the most popular domain registrar and web hosting companies. The company is reliable, easy to use, and has a large customer base that swears by them.

With this in mind, we’re going to discuss how to make a GoDaddy WordPress Website 2023 style. For those that don’t know, WordPress is an opensource content management software that can be easily installed through GoDaddy without any hassle at all. Let’s take a look!

Pick Hosting Package

As long as you have internet, you need to realize this isn’t that complicated of an effort. First and foremost, you have to select which hosting option is best for you. Although there are plenty of web hosting options out there, we’re going to focus on GoDaddy’s hosting options since we’re building a WordPress website through GoDaddy.

Choose Domain Name

Once you’ve selected which hosting package is best for you, you should be prompted to a domain screen. As elementary as this section might seem, it’s exceptionally critical for you to think closely about what domain can represent your site the best. It needs to be simple for people to remember and be close to what your site is offering.

Try to come up with a few different names since many domain names aren’t available. Thankfully, GoDaddy shows you what’s available and not. Once you find an available domain name, here is where you’ll hit the select and continue button. If you haven’t already, you’ll have to create a GoDaddy account, so follow the steps accordingly for the required information.

Install WordPress

Once you complete the steps, you should see a button for a manual WordPress setup. Here is where you’ll log in to your WordPress username and password, so make sure you create a WordPress account on WordPress.org before trying to log in. Once logged in, you’ll have a screen of five different steps for you to confirm and enter information in.

By the end of it, it should automatically install WordPress onto your site, with a prompt that says congrats your site is up and ready to edit. Click on the view my site button to make sure everything is installed okay. Be sure to verify your email and head back to the GoDaddy dashboard for one final step before editing.

Go to the GoDaddy page and click on the My Products tab. Go down to the WordPress section and hit manage. Look for the custom domain section at the top, and hit setup. From here, you can attach your domain to the WordPress installation.

Add Theme

Now that WordPress is installed onto your domain, type /wpadmin onto the end of your site’s URL. Log in using your WordPress username and password. As long as you set up everything correctly, your login information should allow you to sign in to the site to edit. If you wish to change your username and password, you can do it through GoDaddy.

Once logged in, you are now at the WordPress dashboard. This is where you’ll edit your site and get it to how you want to look. First, hover over appearance and click on themes. Here is where you can choose a wide range of themes for your site.

Think of a theme as the overall feel of your site. You can also purchase themes from thirdparty sites like Themeforest if need be. Follow the instructions on the theme tab to install your theme. Also, be sure to install demo content if the theme provides it.

Add Content

At this point, you just have to add content for your site. Pages are usually used for about pages or other stagnant sections. In contrast, posts are what you’ll use for new blog content, etc.

Definitely take a thorough look at both, so you understand how they thoroughly work. The menus and category sections are critical, so you can get your menu heading on your page to look how you want. You can also head to the appearance section to further edit how your site appears.

Be sure to go up and down the dashboard to fully understand how it works. Regardless, congrats on successfully creating a GoDaddy WordPress website!
