How To Make A DIY 5-Gallon Bucket Worm Tower

Follow
GreenShortz DIY

This is likely the easiest DIY worm tower build...and the cheapest, especially if you can find salvage materials. It is also a highervolume worm tower option, if you need more space for compostables. I make make my 5gallon bucket worm tower with metal screen cover the air and leachate holes to keep out moles, voles and rats, which will chow down on your composting worm colony. Window screen is also used on the air circulation holes to keep out soldier flies.

I'll bury this worm tower deep in my garden to help the worms stay warmer for the winter. To add insulation for the colder months, I'll cover with compost, leaves or grass, or a combination.

To set up the worm tower with worms and compostables, watch this video:    • How To Make A DIY Worm Tower
Start at 12:00 for the worm setup.

For my worm composters I use worms purchased from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm. Uncle Jim will give you a 10% discount on your online purchase if you use the coupon code "greenshortz" at checkout. website: www.unclejimswormfarm.com
(disclosure: I don't make money from this...they just deliver a great product)
