I built a functional disc sander using a treadmill motor. The speed is adjustable and the table can be adjusted according to a desired angle. The motor I use is a very quiet and powerful one. You can use the same treadmill’s motor or other types of motors. This ensures that it will work at the desired speed without any torque problem. These motors I use are referred to as "Permanent Magnet DC Motors". It works with 180V DC voltage, but its speed can be adjusted using PWM thanks to the driver circuit. They are very powerful yet work very quietly. Using such motors, we can make various workshop machines ourselves, such as belt sanders, wood lathes, column drills, table saws, bench (milling) router.
