Many of my customers have warehouses that are unorganized making product impossible to find and warehouse teams extremely inefficient. In this video I am going to discuss how to organize and label your warehouse bins. This is the same strategy that we've used with every distributor for which we've implemented a warehouse management system.

Most warehouses have a structure in place with different areas, racks, bays, levels, and pallet positions. To organize this structure in a way that is easy to understand, you have to combine these different components into one location identifier per bin. For example, here is a typical warehouse setup

Areas In Warehouse (Freezer, Cooler, Grocery): A, B, C

Rack Rows (Assuming you have 5 aisles of racks, each left and right side make up a row): 01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10

Bays (Sections of the rack. Assuming five bays per aisle): 01,02,03,04,05

Level (how many levels high is the rack): 1,2,3

Pallet Position (two pallet positions per rack): A,B

Here would be a typical bin location in your Grocery Area:
