How to install Flume 2 smart home wifi water monitor and leak detector

In this review of the Flume2 smart home whole house water monitor and leak detector I'll be installing #Flume on my main water meter, testing the accuracy of the gallons per minute, gpm, flow rate, and show the feature of the Flume iPhone app.

The Flume 2 does not require external power or cutting your pipes. Instead, it is able to measure the flow rate from your main water meter using the magnetic field. It includes it's own batteries and the wifi bridge is USB powered.

Other options like Moen Flo require external power and plumbing it into the piping. That wouldn't have worked for a Florida house like mine where we don't have exposed pipes in the basement near power. The main for the water and shut off valve is located on an exterior wall and is a really tight space.

Flume claims it only takes about 10 minutes to install and I was pleased about how easy installation was. Just follow the prompts in the Flume app to scan the QR Code on the wifi bridge and the sensor that you place on the city water meter to pair them up and then run a faucet to start the calibration.

I was skeptical about how accurate it could be using indirect measurement of water flow using the magnetic field, but I was able to verify the gpm accuracy using their accuracy check tool and manual comparison.
