This is a simple and easy project where if everything goes well, it should only take five to ten minutes to complete. Now, you might be wondering, “why do I need a garage door lock?” If you have to manually open your garage door, then a lock is necessary. But, if you have automatic garage door openers, then adding a lock is optional. However, it can be an extra safety feature to ensure no one can open your garage door. A lot of people don’t know that your garage door openers are pretty easy for criminals to hack, especially the older door opener systems. The only thing that guarantees your door(s) can’t be opened from the outside, is a good, oldfashioned door lock to deadbolt it closed.
