Friends, in Asian countries like Pakistan, India, English rose plants are not grown from seeds, but they are grafted. English rose plants are of different types and colors. Take any English rose plant and you will see that the lower part of them, which is the main stamp, is a wild rose. Above the wild rose stamp, an English rose plant is grafted, as you can see in my yellow and white English rose plant.

Friends, if you pay attention, you will see that two to three branches have come out from the main stamp of my yellow rose plant. Any growth from the main stem of the rose is useless to us because it will not flower. The flowering will always be from the grafted part of the English rose plant. So friends, keep on pruning whatever growth there is from the lower part of these plants. There will be no food for them because all the food will be wasted in the wild bush growth.
As well as wild bush pruning, top pruning of English rose plants is essential for maximum flowering. Once flowering, always cut back the seed pods and all branches to a few inches. It should be pruned till new roots develop and flowering occurs only on new branches. The more you prune your rose plants, the more growth they will have and the more flowering they will have.

Like most flowering plants, roses need at least six to eight hours of direct sunlight per day to thrive and produce abundant blooms. Less than this sunlight not only lacks flowers but also increases the number of plant diseases.
Roses planted in pots are not as big as those grown in the ground. When you bring rose plants from a nursery etc., they are planted in small pots ie 8 inch, 10 inch or 12 inch pots. Grows well in pots when their roots have enough space to growing. The deeper the pots, the more roots will grow. Therefore, select pots that are two to two and a half feet deep and one and a half to two feet high.

Roses grow best in soil that is loose so that their roots can spread easily.If you only use garden soil, it will damage your rose plant. It becomes soggy when watered and very hard when dry. In both cases, the rose plant is damaged, because rose plants do not like wet and dry wet soil, so add a small amount of river sand when shifting the plant in the pot mix the sand as well.

Rose plants love water but hate standing water in pots. Because this can cause the roots of the rose plant to rot. Water the potted rose plants regularly in the summer season and always keep the soil of the pot moist and likewise in the winter season water only once or twice a week when the soil is dry.

More than 15 days have passed since my English rose plants were shifted to these pots and you can see the results, Mashallah these plants are growing very healthy.
