We have always struggled with Iron in our water here in Michigan no matter where we have lived. It just became something we dealt with. Water softeners would help a little but over time rust stains kept coming back, staining our toilets, ruining white clothing, staining dishwashers, clogging faucets and shower heads, and causing buildup in our water heaters.
