How to correctly tape the bottom & top of a moving box

Before you begin packing, ensure that your cardboard moving box has a sturdy base by correctly taping the bottom.
First, fold the box into shape and fold down the two smaller flaps on the bottom end of the box, then the two larger ones, so they meet in the middle.
Tape down the seam in the middle, covering the edges of both flaps. Be sure to extend the tape over the sides of the cardboard box.
Then add two pieces of tape parallel to the short edges of the bottom flaps.
To secure the tape on the sides of the box, wrap a line of tape around all four sides of the box near the bottom.
For extra stability, make an “X” with additional tape over the bottom of the box, taping on the diagonal, from corner to corner.
Once the box is full, but not overpacked, close the top flaps.
Tape down the seam in the middle, where the flaps meet, and extend the tape over the sides of the box.
Add two parallel lines of tape on both sides of the top, and wrap a line of tape around the sides to finish!
