If you wish to register your copyrights with the US Copyright Office for musical works that HAVE ALREADY BEEN PUBLISHED this is what you need to do:

Step 1 Create an account with the U.S. Copyright Office (free)

Step 2 Fill out a standard application for Sound Recording copyright registration.
When you enter the Author's information, make sure you tick the "Sound Recording" box and add "lyrics and music" in the "Other" box

Step 3 Submit your application and pay the fee ($65 if you're registering an album, as of March 20th, 2020)

Step 4 Follow the instructions you receive to finalize your application.
