I feel like I could've expanded on a few points, so here are my additional thoughts:
My point on tearresistance is that any sling worth its salt (even budget friendly ones) have more than enough tear resistance for the average person's everyday carry usecases. Unless your job or specific outing (like bushcrafting) has tremendous risks of sharp edges and points coming in contact, virtually any sling (especially wellreviewed ones) are resilient enough to tears in my opinion.

For water resistance, same deal as above. I think the average person will try to duck out of heavy rain as soon as possible. Reading product pages will let you know if the company feels they've chosen water resistant fabrics, and reading reviews will validate their claims further. Aquagaurd zippers are still NOT waterPROOF and if you want to check out the waterPROOF sling I use for beach days (and pack along for camping trips), you can check it out on Amazon here:
