In this video tutorial, I show you how to make miniature rocks from pink foam. I show you how to carve a realistic rock texture directly into the foam using an XActo knife and your hands.

Once the rock is carved to the right shape, I show you how to paint with acrylic paints! First I start with a black basecoat. Make sure to get full coverage and fill any gaps with the paint because you do not want the pink color of the foam to show through in the final result.

After the black paint dries, I do several drybrush layers with different shades of grey paint. I start with the darker shade, and work my way up the lighter gray tones.

Once dry, I do a few washes with some watered down acrylic paints add some nice color and variation to the rock face.
