Not a financial advisor but you should look into ETFs. It's a lot easier than picking stocks.

UPDATE: I don't think there's a stockpile glitch. The platform is just so bad that it doesn't tell you why your money is in "unavailable". I initiated a withdrawal and completely forgot. There was no notification but it appears in the transaction history.
