After coming to terms that the squirrels were always going to outsmart me, I looked to YouTube for help and built my own squirrelproof birdfeeding structure. Using a 12 foot 4x4, a 6 foot 2x4, a piece of aluminum duct, a few screws and four hooks, along with a shovel, a drill, and some determination, I created a structure that only one squirrel has ever bested. This video shows the structure components, as well as the birdfeeders and seed mixes I use to attract chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers, nuthatches, sparrows, finches, starlings, blackbirds, grackles (not intentionally!), the occasional grosbeak, and the doves, rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks who pick up the scattered seed on the ground in southern Ontario, Canada.
