How to wake up & activate brand new TPMS sensor.

If you bought a brand new sensor and it appears to be dead you try to scan it with TPMS tool and nothing happens, chances are it is just needs to be activated, or woken up. These sensors come dormant from the factory to prevent batteries from discharging while sensor are still sitting on the shelf in the store or warehouse.

To activate brand new sensors, install them onto the wheels, inflate the tires to normal operational pressure, and then try to trigger them with the TPMS tool. It should work most of the times. If it still doesn’t, try releasing the pressure continuously for at least 3 seconds while triggering the sensor. This should wake up the sensor and you should be able to register it now.
