Tecott is an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Naval War College in the Strategic and Operational Research Department. She received my PhD in Political Science in 2021 from MIT, where she was a member of the Security Studies Program. Her recent book project examines U.S. efforts to build militaries in partner states, and focuses in particular on the evolution of the U.S. Army’s efforts to teach, persuade, coerce, and command reticent partner leaders to build militaries that can fight.

“Strategic Advice” is MIT SSP’s newest video series, offering practical advice for graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in political science and other related fields.

This series was created by Dr. Phil Haun (a professor at the Naval War College and an SSP affiliate) to help his students learn more about the professional practices essential to jumpstarting a career after earning a PhD.
