In my 10 years of teaching skimboarding, I have noticed a couple common mistakes that beginners make. Preventing these type of mistakes will help keep you safe while learning how to skimboard. Skimboarding is deceivingly difficult and dangerous. Almost all Skimboards are very unforgiving when you come in contact with one. They are sharp on the rails like a snowboard and stiff so they do not flex. This makes for a bad combination when a board hits you. Aside from the dangers of the board, many beginners also injured themselves from falling on the hard packed sand. This video was made to be used as a guide to help prevent skimboarding injuries.
