How horses drink water | Through SIPHONING 🐴💧💦

Have you ever wondered how horses drink water? And flush their teeth and mouth after eating?

Horses do not lap water with their tongues in the same way that cats and dogs do, but they siphon water by pursing their lips, lowering their tongue to the bottom of the mouth, creating an area of low pressure, that causes the water to be pulled upwards into the mouth. The swallow reflex is then stimulated, and a gulp of water is transferred through the esophagus rehydrating and refreshing our beloved horses.

A horse needs about 30 70 litres a day, this is depended on the weight, breed, and weather condititons. The water should be clean and fresh, and the container brushed and cleaned everyday.

Our stallion Rocky showed us during making the video clip, that he uses water to clean his teeth and mouth with swirling and pushing water out. We have never noticed to seen this before, have you seen it with your horses too? Please leave us a comment below!
