On either side of New Orleans along the Mississippi River sit the Davis Pond and Caernarvon Diversions, where a portion of the river is diverted into the surrounding wetlands. While most people think it's to add sediment to the rapidlyvanishing coastline, the reasons are quite different.
In this video, we will take a tour of the sites, as well as discuss the near 100year history of diverting the Mississippi into wetlands, the reasons for it, and whether these diversion structures are doing their job.
