The Three Stooges were a touchstone of American comedy. In a near 50year span from 1922 to 1970, their vaudeville humor had a profound impact on the industry. Their slapstick physical humor is among the most memorable elements of American comedy.

What you may not realize is, though they were called The Three Stooges, it was not always the same actors. Throughout their filmography, there were many changes and change backs in the cast. In the 190 films, the stooges were played by six different actors.

This video will examine how each of The Three Stooge actors died.

Moe Howard was the first member of The Three Stooges. He started as a heckler on the Tom Healy show. This bowlcut buffoon had such success in the role that he brought his brother Shemp on board. As a founding member, Moe stayed with the team throughout their entire 50year run.

Larry Fine was the second major member of the team. Larry fell into the natural position as the straight man. He would act as the gobetween and sometimes the voice of reason for the bickering brothers. Larry was also stuck with the group until his death.

Though Moe, Larry, and Shemp were the original members, others joined. Joe Besser, Joe DeRita, and Curly Howard. Played parts. Health issues and deaths of team members kept the cast in the constant shuffle over the years.

However, no matter who was on the squad, they always offered their signature comedic style that lasted decades.

These were the lives and deaths of the six men who took a turn as a member in this outfit. Each of their contributions was memorable in the legacy of one of the greatest comedy troupes of all time The Three Stooges.
