How do you know if a CPS case is closed?

Follow
The Law Office of Bryan Fagan, PLLC

We are going to discuss how you can know whether or not your case is officially closed out by CPS. As with many things in life, we may be interested in when something is going to occur. However, it is the why behind that when which will tell us even more about your case. For that reason, let's jump into today's topic and discuss why it is that CPS may say your case is ready to be closed out.

The video is titled "How do you know if a CPS case is closed?" and provides information on the process of closing a Child Protective Services (CPS) case. The speaker, Peter Sayadzad, an attorney with the Law Office of Brian Fagan, explains that working with CPS can be a complex process and that there are many factors that can go into a CPS case, which means closing out a CPS case can be just as complex as opening one. He discusses the various factors a CPS case worker will focus on when deciding if a CPS case needs to be closed. These include coparenting, ending all forms of abuse, making changes deemed necessary to ensure children are safe, having a proactive support system, and communicating well with coparents. Saizod explains that at a minimum of 90 days, or basically three months before the conclusion of the case, the parent will receive a letter stating whether their CPS case will be closed, but it is recommended that they contact a Texas family law attorney to confirm the case is concluded.
