As we traverse the side of the hill, the scene shifts to a vast AfricanAmerican cemetery, a poignant reminder of the lives connected to the Childs plantation. This cemetery extends the narrative from bondage to freedom, with graves dating back to at least 1914 and progressing to more recent times in the 1960s and 70s towards the hill’s crest.
