Hot Springs Arkansas is a city located in the Ouachita Mountains.
The city is a popular vacation destination in the United States and it's full of popular attractions. Here is a list of our top things to do in Hot springs Arkansas.
1) Hot Springs National Park
It’s not surprising that the main attraction in Hot Springs, Arkansas is Hot Springs National Park. The park is the smallest of the U.S. National Parks and includes portions of downtown Hot Springs, making it one of the most accessible national parks. There are numerous hiking trails and camping areas. Unlike most other national parks, admission to Hot Springs National Park is completely free. This park boasts both indoor and outdoor activities to keep families busy for a day or weekend outing.Bathing in spring water is available in facilities at extra cost.
2) Bathhouse Row
3) Hot Springs Mountain Tower
Hot Springs Mountain Tower provides travelers with amazing views of the surrounding area. Those who ride the tower elevator to the top observation decks at 216 feet will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Ouachita Mountains, Hot Springs Mountain, and Diamond Lakes area at 1,256 feet above sea level.
4) Lake Catherine State Park
5) Garvan Woodland Gardens
Garvan Woodland Gardens is a 210acre botanical garden of the University of Arkansas located approximately 6 miles from Hot Springs National Park in the picturesque Ouachita Mountains of Southwest Arkansas. The garden has a lot more than flowers, There are numerous attractions including architectural structures like the Anthony Chapel, the Bob and Sunny Evans Treehouse, beautiful bridges and waterfalls that offer great photo opportunities, ponds with koi fish, model train city. There is a place to eat some food and sit outside. There are many trails in the garden and they have peacocks that usually hang out by the main entrance, but can walk anywhere they want. We really enjoyed this Garden. The architecture of the treehouse and Chapel is amazing. Anthony Chapel is actually located outside of the garden and it’s not always open for visitors inside, but even outside it’s stunning.
Recommend to anyone who loves nature, hiking and architecture.
6) Arkansas Alligator Farm & Petting Zoo
The Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo is a privately owned zoo located in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There are other animals except for alligators, they have goats, rabbits, sheep, emu, and other animals. When you visit the Alligator area you can learn about them and even hold small Alligators and take a photo. They sometimes feed alligators and it's a pretty cool watch. You can also feed the alligators for an extra fee during feeding season. This is a great family experience and it's well worth the price of admission.
7) MidAmerica Science Museum
The Mid America Science Museum is home to over 100 handson science exhibits which are divided into individual galleries including about bugs, fossils, electricity, pulse, a treehouse with a huge netted area to run on. All the exhibits were so interactive and educational. There are many handson activities to do and play for kids of any age and even as an adult I enjoyed it. There is also an outdoor dinosaur exhibit with numerous dinosaurs. Overall a great place to take the family!
8) National Park Duck Tours
National Park Duck Tours is a fun way to see the city and Lake Hamilton since the vehicle travels on land and water. The tour guide is knowledgeable and funny and points out various sites. The tour takes almost 1.5 hours.
