On March 27, 1977 in the Afternoon, a thick fog rolled over Los Rodeos Airport in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. With two full Boeing 747 Airliners from KLM and Pan Am on the runway and an explosion at a nearby airport redirecting airtraffic, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Within three hours, 583 people would be dead.
