This poem encourages children to think about the huge variety of options available to them for what they could do with their lives, and to think ambitiously about the impact they want to have on the world. It encourages them to see how shallow celebrity culture can be and think twice about their role models.

Hollie McNish is a spoken word poet based between Cambridge and London. She wrote a series of poems in 2013 for The Economist Educational Foundation to help young people think critically about issues in the news. This particular video encourages children to think about the culture of celebrity and what that actually means.
