Here we can enjoy a documentary about the BMW brand and especially their BMW motorcycles, historic, classic and current.
BMW (German acronym for Bayerische Motoren Werke, "Bavarian Motor Factory") is a German manufacturer of luxury sports cars and motorcycles, which is headquartered in Munich. Its subsidiaries are RollsRoyce, Mini and BMW Bank. BMW is the world leader in sales among manufacturers of highend, competes primarily with Audi, Lexus and Mercedes Benz, including highend vehicles.
Early [edit]
BMW's predecessor was the company Rapp Motorenwerke GmbH, founded in 1913 by Karl Rapp. They changed the name in April 1917, first at BMW GmbH (limited company) to terminate at BMW AG, a year later after its conversion into a corporation. The first CEO was Ana Maria, who remain in office for 20 years. The engineer Max Friz said the young company in 1917 to develop an aircraft engine high compression, thanks to which it was possible to reduce the loss of benefits on high. This innovation was so popular that BMW received an order for 2,000 engines by the administration of the Prussian army. On 17 June 1919 the record high of 9760 meters was reached with a BMW IIIa. The end of World War I and the Treaty of Versailles seemed to be the final phase of the company, as the treaty banning the production for 5 years of aircraft engines, at that time the only product of BMW. In 1922 Camillo Castiglioni, principal shareholder of the company left the company to go to Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG (BFW), also taking the rights of the BMW brand.

The company BFW was from the company GustavOttoFlugzeugwerk who founded the March 7, 1916 Gustav Otto, son of Nikolaus August Otto, inventor of the combustion engine. The March 7, 1916 is considered in the description of the history of the company, as the official founding date of BMW. With the departure of Castiglioni the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (BFW) leave rise to BMW. The company was called until then was renamed BMWAG Süddeutsche Bremsen and after KnorrBremse, major industrial company in the field of brakes.
Logo [edit]
The wellknown logo white and blue BMW was created in 1917 when the company was still engaged in the manufacture of aircraft engines and symbolizes the flag of the Free State of Bavaria (he symbolized a spinning propeller on a blue sky 4 image was used by the company for an advertising campaign 19295).
First BMW motorcycle [edit]
Conceived on paper throughout 1922, the first motorcycle BMW R 32 cause real anger during his presentation at the Berlin exhibition of 1923. In order to improve air cooling, Chief Engineer Max Friz puts the plane engine transversely in a double tube chassis and power is transmitted directly to the wheel through a cardan shaft: a design principle that is still used in BMW motorcycles today. From 1924 they returned to produce aircraft engines. The Schienenzeppelin manufactured in 1930 was propelled by a BMW engine.

In 1945 the traditional plant in Munich was almost completely destroyed, and Automobilwerk Eisenach plant was occupied by the Soviets (through the RDA). [Citation needed] Due to the fact that all production tools were in the plant Eisenach, immediately after the war the company was able to continue producing the same models as before the war under the "BMW". [citation needed] Since BMW in Munich was not willing to produce vehicles under its brand without having any control over production in 1951 succeeded in the courts prohibit Eisenach factory to produce vehicles under the name "BMW". The products of the Eisenach factory was then manufactured under the name "EMW". The company was renamed volkseigener betrieb (VEB) in 1952. The Wartburg model was manufactured at the facility. Until then they had never produced cars at the plant in Munich, plus the plant was devastated by Allied bombs. BMW managed to stay afloat thanks to the manufacture of motorcycles, pots and brakes. Previously, the British company Bristol Aeroplane Company had inspected the factory BMW and had taken the planes of the models produced before the war. After a time, the new subsidiary of the British company, Bristol Cars, started manufacturing model 400, which turned out to be virtually identical to the BMW 327, including the famous front in the form of "double kidney."
