I’m setting out on a big adventure: I’m trekking to Everest Base Camp, but with a twist. I’m doing it without the help of a guide, porter, or even taking a flight! Instead, it's just me and my boyfriend, a map, and a waytooheavy backpack, that spoiler alert is going to cause me to struggle a lot.

In this first act (out of three), instead of flying to Lukla, we first take a bus from Kathmandu to Salleri/Phaplu. Once on the trail, we are forced to navigate muddy roads, battle relentless rain, and face challenges that push me to my limits.

But it's not all rain and mud! Despite the challenges, we get some beautiful, raw views of the Himalayas, and have a lot of fun along the way, too. It's a rollercoaster of highs and lows, with each step bringing me closer to the iconic Everest Base Camp.
