In this video I replace my original power steering pump in my 2003 Chevrolet Suburban GMT800. I've suspected my power steering pump to be failing due to being hard to turn the wheel in certain conditions. I've made sure the pump had new fresh power steering fluid but the problem persists. I decided to swap in a fresh power steering pump to see if that solved the problem. So far so good.

This video has a lot of information regarding dismantling and getting to the power steering pump as well as how to remove the power steering pulley and press the pulley back onto the power steering pump shaft using a power steering pump pulley removal and installer tool.

I did have a few issues with the process that included just being plane difficult to get the job done due to the size and weight of the brackets and pump, I also broke the electrical connector that plugs into the coolant temperature sensor and after the job was completed I started it up and had no power steering at all. It wasn't until I gave it some revs that the power steering 'woke up' and started working. I'm assuming it was just an air bubble in the system.

Alas, everything was ironed out and the truck now drives and steers perfectly. I took it out for a couple of drives and have not been able to reproduce the hard to steer issue that I was having before.
