Have you visited our 1950s Front Street terrace yet? Here's a virtual tour of our four exhibits in Front Street terrace you can explore!

Treat yourself to lunch at Middleton’s Quality Fish and Chips. Next door at John’s Café, why not choose a few tunes on the jukebox before settling into one of the original John's Café booths to sample fresh homemade ice cream.

Next you can head to No. 2 Front Street to hear the story of the Spennymoor Settlement of artists, writers and poets. The exhibit is based on the former Spennymoor home of celebrated North East artist Norman Cornish, where he lived from 1953 to 1967.

Now that you've brushed up on your knowledge of the 1950s you can stop in at Elizabeth’s Hairdresser’s to have your hair styled and make sure you look the part!
